For teachers and librarians

Free reading, ready for a group.

Use the free books, games and Reader Lab in a classroom, library session or homework club. No accounts needed for any of them.

Practical ideas

Ways to use it this week

  1. Shared reading

Project a Free Library book for the group. Stop at each page turn to ask what a character wants and what might change.

  2. Talk before, during, after

Before: predict from the title. During: point to a word or picture that proves an idea. After: retell in three sentences.

  3. Reader Lab for 10 to 12

Evidence Detective and Word Builders give untimed practice in inference and word parts. Logic Trail and Codebreakers suit early finishers.

  4. Quiet transitions

Calm Corner offers a brief breathing break between activities. Games are short and need no login.

Rights and age groups

Every free book shows where it came from and its license. Copyright differs between countries, so some editions are offered only in certain territories. Please check the notice on each book before printing or redistributing; we do not provide legal certification. Books keep one original age group (Ages 0–2, 3–5, 5–7 or 7–10). Reader Lab is an additional area for ages 10 to 12 alongside those four groups. Our original Deuce books are separate from the free library and are not part of it.

What this is not, yet

  • There is no live library-card integration. Library connections are planned and exist only as a private prototype.
  • There are no classroom, teacher or student accounts, rosters or progress reports. Accounts are for individual grown-ups.
  • Reader Lab does not record answers or upload writing. Progress lasts only for the visit.
